MG MGA - My New MGA
Having found this site over the last few months since purchasing my MGA Coupe it has been a source of fantastic information -Easier to use than the MGTABC site I previously belonged to when I had my TC.and Barneys wisdom and site is a fantastic resource. I am enclosing a couple of pictures of my MGA purchased in March this year It was restored during the 90s and when I purchased it ,it had only done some 3000 miles I have since done some 2500 troublefree miles including a trip to Le Mans Classic I am having a 5 speed gearbox fitted soon as my long term ambition is to spend some time touring europe |

Help cant seem to upload pictures -file too large ? Paul |

I too am having trouble uploading pictures. Can anyone let us know a simple procedure? |

You should be able to compress the pictures using your veiwing software, you can resize and save (under a different name to keep the original!) I use a couple of different photoshop programs, but also Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Under the Pictures tab, choose Compress pictures and select document! change name and save then it will post a treat, one picture per post. You can also progress to making a montage Steve Giles style, but the pictures tend to get quite small. Neil |

Microsoft Paint will also compress the image files. Microsoft Paint is available as a standard part of Windows and is in the "Programs" list under "Accessories". Just open the original file and save it with a different name (to keep your original unchanged). Mick |

Neil mentioned my montage system. For those not familiar, you can use Microsoft PowerPoint to upload single or multiple pictures in one post. It also appears to make no difference to the original size/quality (mb) of the photo. Open up PowerPoint. On the menu bar select 'Insert - picture - from file' and select you pictue from your photo archive. Once it appears on the PowerPoint slide, simply size the picture to fit the page (or part of the page) by clicking on one of the photo corner squares and dragging in/out as required. Repeat the whole process if you want more than one picture on the page. The clever bit is saving the document. With the 'Save as' window open click on the 'Save as type:' drop down menu and select 'JPEG File Interchange Format' This saves the whole slide as a JPEG image of a suitable size for uploading to this forum, regardless of the size of the original photo(s). I have done a screen print of some of the process to give you an idea. See image Those familiar with PowerPoint can also add words and other graphics, so the options are enormous. Steve |

I tried Steve's procedure. I fitted four large image files into the one file, and the result is a much smaller file size than any of the single files on their own! Off topic, but there are attached four mga twin cam engine photos. Mick |

Hi Neil are you well, just out of interest could the lower front edge of your drivers door go in a bit, it looks a little proud of the wing or is the the photo Gordon |

Yes, that must be how perfect panel fit shows up in photos Gordon! Actually that picture is acouple of years old, the car is all battered and rusty now. I'm not sure if the drivers door even opens, if I remove the pop rivets to check it might never close again! LoL Neil |

Hi Neil I just knew you would have to bite lol, car looks superb as usual gordon |

Tried Steves way enclosed image! Paul |

Paul, Just one thing. If you use the Powerpoint method with only one photo you should use the mouse to stretch the image from one corner only until it fills the whole slide (or at least touches two sides of the slide). Mick |
