MG MGA - My scale 1:18 model Chassis
Hi guys, as many of you are aware I am rebuilding my modified V8 MGA Special. Whilst I was at the chassis stage I decided to make an exact replica of my car in 1:18 scale to go with all my other 1:18 models. Problem was the MGA diecasts were nothing like mine and their chassis were nothing like the real one. So out with the plastic sheet, square and tube etc and here is the result so far. As the real restoration progresses I will replicate parts on the model at night. Finding it very thearaputical and heaps of fun reliving my younger model making days, but must say making the front crossmember and goal post area was a challenge. Best part is the real thing is there beside me to refer to! Next challenge will be finding a 1:18 Rover V8 motor (or else will have to make that too). Have included image of model and of real one regards Mark |

Very nice work Mark. I like the color on the chassis. From the sheen it appears to not be primer, are you planning on leaving it grey? |

Thanks Bill, yes the chassis is gloss grey. Did this after being told by an old mechanic friend of mine that gloss grey shows up any fluid leaks readily and also any stress cracks in the chassis become obvious, unlike gloss black which hides all sins. Maybe thats why manufacturers used gloss black? regards Mark |
