MG MGA - My Twin Cam Plea
Hello everyone, I have seen the TC motor on eBay. I am bidding on it, but here is my plea. If you have one in a car and are just looking to put it in your garage, or you want to but this one to strip fir its parts, please do not bid. I am tring to restore a TC, mine has a 1622 motor in it. I have no problem bidding against somebody that is tring to just get another of these rare beauties back on the road. It would just be a shame to just have another engine sitting around as a back up. I hope this does not offend any of the members or nonmembers. Thanks for reading. :) Don YD1-956 |

Don, I hope you get it at a good price. I can't even afford to dream of a TC, much less bid on one. |

Thanks Bill, I never thought I would have one. It fell in my lap, the seller had no idea what his dad had left him. It was advertised as a "old mg", runs. Hopefully some day it will be back on the road just like the day it left the factory! Don |

D.M. Check out this web site http://autovintagery.com/index.html The last time I was at this man's shop he had several TC's. He even had three cars with consecitive commision numbers. |

Don, I wish you all the luck in getting your Twin Cam back together. If not this engine, perhaps another will come your way...whatever is meant to be. I think you're on to something in general though...hording of parts. I once met a fellow at a show that bragged that he had "enough boxes of Twinkie parts to fill two parking spaces stacked two boxes high." I think he and others with parts that they will never use should get them back in circulation, while this generation, who remembers these cars when new, can rebuild and appreciate these cars for what they are...a blast to drive! If prices and scarcity of parts continue on their present path, many Twin Cams will go unrestored, languishing in sheds and dark garage corners, only to be reassembled decades from now as museum pieces. jm2c Paul YD3 818 current daily driver |

Hi Don, Good luck in your ebay bidding - too many twin cams are missing from circulation - especially over here - rumoured to be only 20 left. We have one in our club belonging to David Bryant of Southport which he rebuilt himself- (and he is not on the internet being the wrong side of 70)- it is fitted with twin DCOE Weber carbs and goes like stink. See the members gallery on our website (www.westlancsmg.co.uk)- Cheers Cam Cunningham -1600MGA - secretary WLMGOC |

Good luck Don, Look like your in a bidding war with twincam58 though. I'm glad I got my engine when I did. I've asked the seller what chassis it cam from, as he has the remains of that also, but he can't find the number. He owns another twin cam also and is quite helpfull. Plus I asked what the gearbox number was also for the register. Good luck. <MARK> YD3 801 |

Isn't that price fixing? Don, you don't work for an oil company, do you? Just kidding - best of luck!!! |

Thanks for the kind words. I hope more people will look into there garage and relise, they din't need all those rare MGA parts and sell them for a fair price. I have never understood hoading. I also hope Twincam58 is planning on using this engine in a car, not buying it to have another one sitting in his (or her) garage. The rareness of these cars is scarry, even more rare is one like mine, a right hand drive. If TC58 is reading I wish him (or her) luck with there resoration. One last plea, sell those parts you have, flood the market, get more MGA's on the road. How cool would it be to see one on your way to work, or on your way home. You could then think to yourself, I helped that person to get that car back on the road! Don YD1 956 |

Mark, The Twin Cam Yahoo website had engine 1186 in chassis 893. This was information from the owner at the time (I believe it is the same owner now selling). Mick |

Don Black - Just wondered if you got the TC motor? If not, you might want to contact Mick at Keystone MMMGTCARS@yahoo.com . He has the largest collectiion of t-series original & NOS parts in the world. He also has many NOS MGA parts and he had a 1500 for sale that had a trunk full of NOS parts that came with it, I think he took it in on a trade for a TF 1500 RHD. tom P |

Yup, got it. I am now the very proud owner of a TC motor. Now I just have to build a crate to have it shipped in. Thanks for all the support. Don YD1 956 (soon to be a real TC again!) |
