MG MGA - Need Ideas on MGA O/D Trans

Thanks to everone over time who has responded to my requests for help on my 1964 MGM O/D trans into my MGA. I am in need of more ideas on how to secure the rear trans mounts. Most of the responses I have are for later model O/Ds and they will not work. If anyone has done this exact swap please let me know...

David - I did this mod on a Magnette ZB, which has a MGA transmission. I used the main shaft from an early MGB O/D transmission in place of the original mainshaft in the Magnette's transmission, then replaced the tail piece of the original tranmission. The problem then was modifying the rear transmission mount to match the mounting points on the MGB transmission. I had the mounting points from a early MGB rear crossmember welded onto the Magnette's crossmember in place of the original mounting points. The Magnette Register used to have a booklet available that detailed various modifications that have been made to the Magnettes over the years, including the O/D transmission. The booklet is quite detailed on making the various mods and is worthwhile trying to get hold of. Perhaps a posting on the Magnette BBS will turn up someone with the booklet who will copy the info on the O/D transmission. Good luck - Dave

David,

Do you have the technical article on this subject from NAMGAR (North American MGA Register)?
These are available for $1.00 from:

See gearbox/Driveshafts section.

David D, thanks for the suggestion, I will try and get a copy of that.

Mick, I have those plans and they are for a 4 syncro transmission and do not appear to work for the 3 syncro versions.
