MG MGA - Needle In The Haystack Found
Just over a week ago I rebalanced the carbs. I then went for a 5 mile drive on an already hot engine. I did not realise it at the time but I had obviously dislodged a jet return spring during the process. It only became obvious yesterday, when after a week of British summer weather, I fired up the old girl for the first time in those 8 days. The choke pulled out rather easily which concerned me. A quick check under the bonnet showed that the rear carb was lacking its spring. No sign of it in the garage, so a phone call to Burlens to order a new one plus a spare. Fast forward 18 hours to this morning. I was on my mile return walk to the local village to get my paper when I just happened to look down (half a mile from home) and there was my return spring lying in the kerbside gutter. Now what are the odds on that? One thing is certain, I am doing the National Lottery this weekend. The odds cant be much different. Steve |

Yah, but, when you drop the lottery ticket, somebody else will pick it up! FRM |

I suppose the answer is in the name of the spring Steve, if it had been a "non-return" valve for example, you would never have got it back! Colyn |

Never thought of that Colyn! I guess I need to look at and rename all the bits I have lost in the past and had to replace: return MGCC badge; return tax disc holder; return sun glasses; and return hat. Hope I never have to 'return car'. Steve |
