MG MGA - Never know enough
Acquired an MGB 5 main for my MGA. Complete rework of engine and mods to rear plate for MGA transmission use. Every thing went well. Primed oil system with refrigeration oil pump. Worked fine, oil at rockers, etc. Then I noticed oil at engine plate???Discovered the oil coming from slot used on MGA to dump any leakage before it fouls clutch..Then I read the instruction from Barney.....The slot must be blocked by RTV or weld filled..Took it apart and filled it...Thankfully I found it before installation....Betcha I wasn't the first...Gary |

Gary, I think I will follow your lead and prime my engine before I put the body back on. I was even thinking about getting the car running and driving without the body on to sort out any major problems. Anyone done this. Andy |

Andy, I drove my rolling chassis in '94 before I ever started on the body. Have a video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUV8921lTN0 No significant problems were discovered. Due to diversions I did not finish the car until 2006. Jim |

Hey Jim , That looked fun - but how legal was it? By the way - did the turkey taste good? cheers Cam |
