MG MGA - new clutch slave cylinders
The Lockheed clutch slave cylinders being supplied by Moss do not have the steel ring fitted around the dust boot. Moss says that the manufacturer feels the ring is not necessary, and that the ring from the original slave cylinder should be used if you want to have one. I have tried to fit my original ring and I just can't get it on. Of course, maybe it can't fit due to the manufacturing or tolerances of the new cylinders. Is the ring necessary to effect a proper seal of the dust boot? Thanks, George |

I had this issue with the last two slave cylinders I fitted, neither seemed to need the ring, just as well as I could not get it on, the seal stays in place just fine without it. |

George, are you talking about the outside ring that holds the boot onto the cyl or the inside ring? The new one I bought at a swap meet had the outside ring but not the inside ring. I was able to reuse the OLD inside ring but it was supper tight. The Outside ring i have been told was really not needed. Thx Ron Ron.bissland@snapon.com |
