MG MGA - Not getting ANY spark during start!???
The new cylinder head has been installed, the blown out core plug has been replaced, and my carburetor overflow problem has been solved.
However, when I turn the engine over I am getting no spark at all. The starter motor just spins the engine... no attempt at ignition. I've checked the timing. Even if its wrong I would expect one plug fire. I get nothing. I pulled a couple plugs out and they are getting fuel. These plugs have less than 3,000 miles (they are fairly old however). What am I not seeing? What have I left out? How can I test the ignition coil and plugs? |

Barney, Thanks for the links. I replaced my points with an electronic ignition system. Is the testing process similar? |

Yes. When the distributor cap is off, hold your hand over the distributor and make believe you have points and condenser underneath. The electronic module does the same thing, make and break the ground connection for the coil. You would need to use a test light to tell when the module breaks the connection (for spark output). |
