"No expense spared", but no taste in colours, either.
David Lieb

That is an actual factory stock color. We have a club member with an A the same orignal color. He is having the body restored and is keeping the same color. Very few are seen as dealers somtimes painted brand new cars in order to sell them.

But with a red interior??? I know that MG taste in colours was sometimes a little suspect, but please.
David Lieb

almost perfect, shame on that ID plate

The MG factory records, saved by the MG Car Club in the UK when the factory closed, show that this car was originally built with an Alamo Beige body color and red interior trim.
The records also show that this car, with chassis #YD3/2202, had a range of options including an aluminum steering wheel, 4.55 rear axle ratio, close ratio gearbox, competition seats, a separate competition windscreen, an oil cooler, and a few other options.

A correction to the previous posting.
The MG factory used a series of abbreviations for the options.
ASWh is an adjustable steering wheel (adjustable column length).
AlSWh is an alumimum steering wheel.
The Twin Cam for sale, chassis #YD3/2202, has ASWh, an adjustable steering wheel.

On my monitor, this car looks much darker than the other two alamo beige MGAs I have seen. One was a coupe and it looked quite nice to me.

Yep,my MGA was in stunning Alamo Beige but did seem lighter in colour than this one(and did have red interior). The good news is that ,amazingly CLU 776,is still on the road (I got rid of it 40 years ago!).The bad news,it's now white.

I guess after spending all that money, they couldn't afford to paint the floorboards. Or the bonnet hardware.

Seriously, it's a pretty stunning TC. Alamo Beige and all. And it looks like someone just bought it.

My MGA 1600 1959 was originally alamo beige with red interior too. It's not any more.

Same here David - was originally Alamo Beige with Red Interior - Now British Racing Green

Alamo Beige was a very different color and not many A's were that color. The Alamo Beige cars that I have seen have had Red interior. I like the color combination as it is very rare that you see one. I vote for the color.

I am so sorry, but "it is very rare that you see one" is NOT a reason to like anything. The reason it is rare is usually because nobody liked it when it was new. Eventually Pontiac Azteks will be rare, too.

David Lieb,

I do not like the color because it is rare. I like to color because I do. I would have no problem if I were out looking to buy another MGA and found an Alamo Beige car of purchasing it. I remember when they were new in the dealer showrooms. Years ago MG and Healey had colors that were fashioned because of the American market. I have had my share of BRG, White, Black, Blue, and Red MGA's and MGB's over the last 47 years of owning British Cars. I understand that people painted their car's BRG because it is a very nice color and is very fitting for a British car and the car looks good in it. Years ago I painted my 61 "A", in 63, which was black, BRG because I liked it. Color can be a personal preference as to likes and dislikes. I always wanted a BGR MGA Coupe but when I found a great Iris Blue one I bought it and like it because it is a very solid good car to drive anytime I want (Except in 100 degree in the summer). The Iris Blue gets a lot of attention but I have a friend that has a gorgeous BRG MGA Couple and that too gets a lot of attention.

Dave, you have the right to say you don't like the color and that is fine because that is your personal opinion. It all depends on what the car collector is looking for in a car. Some collectors do the car for what they like and some collectors want to car to be original as possible to protect the value. It just depends on what you want.

David L, regarding: 'I am so sorry, but "it is very rare that you see one" is NOT a reason to like anything.' I am so sorry to report to the contrary that rarity is often the prime motivation for collectors of all kinds of things.

"The reason it is rare is usually because nobody liked it when it was new." Why wait for the Pontiac Aztec? This reasoning also applies to the MG YT, the TF, the Twin Cam, the MGC, the MGBGTV8 and the MGB automatic.

And of course you would never want any of these rare cars. Probably because nobody liked them when they were new.

So maybe they couldn't sell many Alamo Beige cars - even with red interiors. The marketplace is not necessarily the arbiter of taste: consider the TF! Maybe Alamo Beige is an acquired taste; something that requires a little intellectual work on your part. Rather like single malt and Mahler.

Regarding the Pontiac Aztec, we have to give Pontiac credit for trying to discourage potential SUV buyers. It's obvious they did their best; the Aztec is ugly enough to scatter children and scare the leaves off the trees. Unfortunately, that was not enough - some people bought them anyway and the planet is the worse for that. They will never be rare enough. I'm glad we agree on SOMEthing.
