MG MGA - Odd Engine number
A fellow club member has a engine with numbers strange to us. Number is BP15GB5213 What is strange what do we have? |

Reading Clausager 'Original MGA', page 55: "The first MGA engine was originally BP15GB but during 1957 the style of engine number prefix was changed to 15GB-U-H, where U indicated a centre gearchange and H stood for high compression." So you have a very early MGA engine. |

Yes, an early 1500. Bob, I'd be interested to know what the Car Number/VIN is that's associated with this engine. Any way you can get it? Nick |

Hi Nick, the VIN range for this engine (5213) is HDR43/15120. On my register I have engine# 5202 for VIN 15113 Gio |
