MG MGA - Odd front wheel cylinder in MGA
Here's a challenge for the veterans. I have a report and a picture of an odd piston in an MGA front wheel cylinder. Can anyone identify this part? See http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/brakes/bt107.htm |

That cylinder was and maybe still sold as a replacement for the origional cylinder. I got a set of these from Victoria British about 10 years ago. I rebuilt them last year with kits that just become available from Scarborough Faire. Previously no repair kits were available. I don't know who sells these type cylinders now. But call SF for the kits. |

Over on this side of the pond, those wheel cylinders are also available as replacements for the much more expensive original type with the cup seals. About 6 months ago I was also told that no seals or repair kits were obtainable for them. Does anyone know if there is now a UK source for these seals or kits? Andy |

More information. First, it is possible to modify the aftermarket cylinder pistons to accept original type seals. This may be good if you want to return the car to original spec's for future servicing convenience. Second, we have a source and part number for the aftermarket seal kits. Scaroborough Faire part number M63R. Updated web page: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/brakes/bt107.htm |
