MG MGA - Oil cooler placement and fit
I have fitted an oil cooler to my engine bay with about one finger width of clearance between the water radiator and the oil cooler. Is this close enough to allow normal air flow to the radiator or am I in 'no man's land' with this placement? Also, I had to reposition the short hose onto the oil filer to clear the radiator. It seems to me the way the filter fitting is positioned is off about 40 degress and is slightly crimped heading out above the upper filter element. In other words, where the rubber hose is crimped into the fitting at the filter feels more like 1 o'clock than where it wants to lay around 3 o'clock (like it is on the engine port). Not exactly a comforting result with a new part. Any thoughts? |

They normally mount a bit further forward, so you may disturb flow to the rad a bit. The ideal place to mount them is under the panel but then you need a vent under there and the bumper needs to be removed...... |

I did read one tech tip that indicated placing it against the radiator... |
