MG MGA - Oil leaking through K&N

Good afternoon, I have a MGA 1622 MK11 1962 which was restored 25yrs ago by my late boss & I have owner for the last 10years. The car has only cover 3000 miles since restoration. I took the car out the other day it's leaking oil from the K&N filter, I read a couple of forums & they say about filter, but I have taken rocker cover off, there is no filter & pipe is clear. The only thing that has changed on the car recently is we converted it to electronic ignition. Can any one suggest what to do ?. Regards John.

How much oil is there? K&N filters periodically require cleaning and re-oiling; perhaps too much oil was applied?

Mine does that sometimes. Apparently prolonged idling or otherwise running engine while sitting still may push some crankcase fumes out the breather hose into the air cleaner. The draft pipe on side of engine should pull air through the air cleaner into the valve cover when the car is in forward motion. ~~Barney Gaylord

Hi thanks for comments, but my car lost 2-3 points of oil. I think it's to much bottom end presser, but don't know why?

John, my car uses or loses oil as well. After a drive, I always check the oil and replenish before the next excursion. I can add a few ounces, or as much as a pint; one time I had to add a quart (long & slow drive). I usually find that in hot weather and slow traffic, car uses/loses more oil. Are you only seeing oil from your filters or perhaps you have other areas you are losing oil from as well. I'd drive the car and then check the front seal; tappet covers; valve cover; rear engine/bell housing. Place some cardboard or newspapers under the engine/trans area after driving and if your car is like mine, you'll see drops in very specific spots. When you say "pipe is clear" , do you mean the breather hose from the carb to the valve cover or the side pipe which Barney mentioned?
Nick Kopernik

sorry meant 2-3 pints of oil. the pipe I checked is breather from rocker cover to carbs. Thanks
