MG MGA - Oselli MGA 1500 head seeks new home
I have an Oselli prepared Stage 2 unleaded MGA 1500 cylinder head that will shortly be up for sale. I have put about 1000 miles on the head, but as it's a 1500 head I have discovered the compression ratio on the 1622 engine I have is too high. It is about to be replaced with an early B casting with bigger combustion chambers to reduce the compression ratio and allow more boost. I can't use the 1500 head, so there's no point hanging on to it. Anyone interested in buying for a sensible price before it goes on ebay is welcome to drop me a line. The stage 2 head is a big improvement on the standard A head. It runs cooler than the standard heads (plus having been properly prepared all the water passages are open, which also helps a lot). It takes standard valve gear and manifolds. I'll throw in a head gasket if I have one around! Oselli always requires an exchange unit, I don't! |

Or for a shade extra, I'll throw in the new valve gear too, so you get a complete ne head with all new studs etc. |

Dominic, I have a 1956 MGA that always seems to get to hot.(200-215) would your head "help" lower the temp.? and what are you thinking on for cost? Sincerely, Tom Peotter |

This head has to be worth about $600-650 - it's essentially as-new and a performance head to boot. It cost me more than that late last summer. It will help reduce temperature in that the gas flow is so much better that the engine can breathe much more efficiently. If your existing head is so full of crud that it's cooling is reduced the efefct will be even more noticeable. The improvement in performance is not huge unless you have done other mods - you can expect about a 10% improvement from this head on its own. Add a warmer cam and a lightened flywheel and even a 1500 becomes quite noticeably more responsive..... |
