MG MGA - parts catalog
I am looking for a reprint (or original) parts catalog. By that I mean, the orignal book that shows MGA part numbers that I can look at to figure out exactly what parts I need to build my car (they are missing) and how to tell the difference between the parts for different year MGA cars. For instance, I want to decode the casting number on my crankshaft to see which one it is. Thanks, Rebecca |

It'a all available online at http://clancy.ch/Owners_Pack.html If you have a 1622 block, the part numbers are different. Crank is 8G2747, con rods 12H426 and 12H424, but all other parts are the same as a 1600 engine. You definietly need the matching bearing caps for the con rods and main bearings. |

Thanks. I must have the wrong crank then because I think (from memory) the part number stamped on the crank starts with 12H. I need to go and look at it again. Thanks for the online link. I am looking at it now. Rebecca |

You need to take some care in interpreting casting numbers and part numbers. In some cases they can be different. The reason is not clear, but it seems that sometimes a casting has one number and then a different part number is used when the item is machined and/or fixed components added before sale. The Service Parts List can be very useful, but be aware of some variations. Mick |
