MG MGA - photos please
Hi all does anyone have a photo or diagram showing how the temp guage capliary is secured and routed under the bonnet of a 1500 many thanks gordon |

Hi Gordon, please see the attached, it shows one fixing point at least! This is a picture from the factory in 1957 (from "Everybody" magazine - just received today!). In the picture, the body is being lowered onto the chassis and the capillary tube can be seen, attached with a P-clip to the inner wing. From that point the tube coils directly to the sender unit once fitted to the engine. This routing was later changed and from the 1600 on the capillary tube follows the engine block rearwards and coils across directly to a P-clip on the bulkhead. Neil |

you do know this is all your fault lol gordon |

Hi Neil I have chickened out I just know if I start trying to move and bend that tubing it will break, it's happened to me before so I shall leave well alone gordon |

Good idea! It doesn't matter which route you use so long as you have some coils between engine and frame. Neil |

See this image for one of the ways Todd Clarke has in his book. This is the way I did it on my car. This mounting used holes that existed on my car. From the shelf it went down and along the engine to the sensor plug. Jim |

Hi Jim many thanks for that gordon |

Jim, That looks like the correct route for the 1600. There should be some nice coils between the shelf and engine. Neil |
