MG MGA - Pistons and Camshaft on fast road A
Hi, I've got a 3 bearing 1800 B block in for cleaning and checking. When it's complete I shall be looking for some pistons for it running a fast road engine spec camshaft. Questions: What manufacturers pistons would you use?? What camshaft no. part and company would you use (Kent or Piper). Many thanks, Martin |

Martin, Pistons I only use: Hepolite or JP. But don't go for the long shirt one's like these as there too heavy. Plus go for 3 ring and not 4 ring. ebay Item number: 4617575725 Short shirt look like this. ebay Item number: 4610430196 jp: http://www.jp.com.au/carsM.html It all depends on what your going to use your car for in respect to cams. In the past I've just had the old cam reground to the spec I want. Much cheeper than buying a new one, but they don't last as long. Hope this helps. |

Hi Piper BP285 is a nice road cam, a bit tappety though, Kent 717 is also a good bet and a lot quieter, what carbs are you using? Don't use forged pistons for road use, standard pistons will suffice Terry |

Terry, I hope to upgrade to 1 3/4 HS but will start with standard old 1500 carbs. |
