MG MGA - Plug adaptor in inlet manifold
I am installing a servo unit, and am trying to find a suitable hose adaptor to screw either into the inlet manifold plug adaptor (Part# AEH281), or alternatively replace the plug with a larger hose adaptor. Has anyone details of the thread types involved, as I don't want to remove the manifold and retap. We have tried various threads (the plug adaptor is 5/8", and the stud that screws in is 3/8"), but none of my range of taps/dies that we use to check thread types will fit the above fitting. I have tried the hose adaptors from an MGB manifold, but these are a different fitting again. Any suggestions for connecting the vacuum hose without major work would be appreciated. |

Gary, I have a manifold in my junk that has a hose adapter brazed into the steel plug in the end of the manifold. Easy to do and not to visable. Worth a try. John |

Why not just use the MGB manifold directly? If you have the one that has the hose fitting for the early, diaphram style PCV valve (GA/GB/GF series engines), it should work without modification. If you are fitting a servo, the appearance difference in the two manifolds would probably go unnoticed. Steve |

Gary, I believe the tread will be one of the following. BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) BSW (British Standard Whitworth) |

I drilled the end of the manifold and taped off that point. If I choose to change that later, I only have to replace the end cap which is like a freeze plug. By taping off the end of the inlet manifold, you won't notice it unless you are looking for it. |
