MG MGA - Plug Gap and Point Gap ??

I've checked the archives and have determined that my 1960 MGA 1600 stock engine with a new Lucas Sports Coil and point type ignition would call for a plug gap of .035 versus the factory spec of .025. That being said is there a relationship between plug gap and point gap that suggests I should also set the points to a different than spec setting ??

Appreciate any advice.

No relationship. leave the point gap at .015, as that is what the distributor cam and coil is designed for. Plug gaps can be increased to .035, but there is not any real good reason to do so, and some reasons not to. Increased gap gives slightly better idle, especially with lean mixtures, but stock coils can run out of whizzys at high RPM. The Sports coil fixes that. Downside is that increasing the plug gap forces the coil to make more voltage, which leads to increased failures of rotor and cap, both suspect with today's parts.
