MG MGA - points and condensor
Well, I re-wired my 1600, chnanged the battery and it ran great...until the points went out. I have had the car for 3 years and had never changed them. I unscrewed the plate holding the points n condensor from the distributor and put new ones on, as well as that other piece that hooks onto the outer part of the distributor. Now for my foolish question: there are two springs under the plate. I can't remember how they hook to the plate. Neither of my books show it too well. If someone could explain how the two springs hook and a picture would really help greatly. Thanks, Jack |

http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29249 This shows an exploded view of the distributor. Are you asking about the advance weight springs #8 ? If all you were doing was installing points these are under the point plate and should not be affected. seen.http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29063 This is MGB but slightly clearer. If this doesnt answer your question I have clearer pics I could fax. |
