MG MGA - pressure washer?
Has anyone used a pressure washer during restoration on the rear axle housing, transmission, engine, front suspension, etc? Comments, cautions, detergents? Thanks, George |

George. I have used the pressure washer, at the local car wash, a number of times. Often, they have a specific lane for "greasy" use. As to solvents, Easy Off was recommended to me and seems to work fairly well. So do the various degreasers. All of them need to sit for a while before being hosed off. Hence, I tend to go during a time when the place is not likely to be busy. After washing, the entire exposed surface should be sprayed down with a good moisture displacing oil. WD-40 works well for this. Les |

It's messy- Wear a hat, gloves, cover-alls and shoes you don't mind trashing and safety glasses. The more heat the better. j |

George: Restoring my second A. Presently have the body off and recently finished power washing, utilizing a degreaser on the entire chassis, including drive train with excellect results. Don |

High pressure wash or better still steam clean. BUT be aware that either can, and often will, strip paint. I once steam cleaned the wheels on my race car trailer, to remove road grime, and found myself having to repaint them - lucky it wasn't bodywork! |
