MG MGA - Radiator Muffs
In the continuing quest for more heat, I acquired a set of radiator muffs (see picture) that are more or less OK. I am considering getting some new ones made using the originals as a pattern. Is anyone else interested before I start to look for a quote. Please either mail me or drop a comment here, ideally with an idea of what you would see as the upper limit of what you would be prepared to pay. I'm not looking to make a profit on these, but if the expectations are unrealistic, then I won't go ahead. The set in the picture went for over $250 on ebay..... |

Because the first picture can't always be seen, here it is again!

Dominic Do you want to try out my old sleeved thermostat to see if it ups your temperature? Steve |

Hi Steve Interesting idea, and probably also worth a shot! Thanks for the offer. I'll see if I can find your email address and mail you offline. What's the state of play on yours? |

Dominic, I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Can you explain how these are used? Do they block the radiator somehow? Most of the muffs I've seen go over the grille, though I've never seen one on an MGA that I recall. Cheers, Gerry |

Hi Gerry They mount on the front of the grille to block it off, the mounting is done with screws that go into small plastic rods behind the grille slats. The centre section of the muff is rolled back and fixed in one of two positions using the buckles and LTD studs. The idea is to be able to restrict airflow into the engine bay on cold days. |

Ah! Now I get it. One thing that was thowing me off was the piece that says "Kingsbury" on it. I guess that's just the "box". Thanks Dominic. GTF |
