MG MGA - Rattle from Disc Brakes

Have just returned from France spent last weekend at the Le Mans Historic a fantastic event so many old cars and 30 hours of Racing !!
I took my recently puchased MGA 1600 Mk 2 Coupe and did 1100 miles the car ran beautifully returned 34 mpg and used just over a pint& half of oil.
However I did notice a rattle coming from around the front wheel area when motoring over rough roads; on my return home I took the front wheel off and found the rattle seemed to be caused by the disc pad being slightly loose in the housing -The correct spring and pin were in situ but they also were loose and rattled when moved. The brakes worked perfectly. Is this normal

No, not normal. The spring clip is there specifically to keep the pads from rattling. If the clip is loose you might try bending it to have more arch and more pressure against the edge of the pads. Otherwise get a new spring clip.

Thanks Barney
You confirmed my suspicions that the spring had lost its tension.I will try bending the spring as you sugest if not I will get a new spring
