MG MGA - Rear Brake Cylinder
Just got around to my rear brake cylinders and have found that the replacement Lockheeds only have one fitting for the brake line. No bleed screw, looked online and on eBay and that seems to be what's being sold nowadays. Anyone know of a different supplier that may have one with top tap for brake line and a bleed screw? I'm new to this and not sure how one bleeds a brake cylinder with no bleed screw other than cracking the line and holding a rag over the area to collect the fluid. I posted this same question on the Yahoo groups MGA chat but I thought I'd spread the question around to see if anyone has options. Thanks Frank 58 MGA Project |

The MGA has a banjo type fitting on the hole for the Cylinder that has a port for brake pipe and a port for bleed nipple. Have you actually checked the brakes on your car. The cylinders for sale are correct. I see if I can find a picture |

Not very clear but this is the only photo I have that seems to have the brake banjo on it. You can just see it on the hub

Thanks guys, Yes once I got the old cylinder to move up I saw that what I thought was a blank casting was in fact the bolt holding the bleed screw and brake line fitting. Newby error I must admit. I've owned the car for 18 years and finally getting going on it, learning as I go I must admit. Though I've found this bbs a great source of info as is Barney Gayloard's MGA Guru site Thanks again for pointing things out for me. Regards Frank 58 MGA Project |
