MG MGA - Rebuilt Shocks

I seem to remember several discussions regarding sources for rebuilt front lever arms and I have lost the information I had.

Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi David,

That's the place I was looking for. Re-bookmarked and remembered.

Thank you!

I bought two rebuilt shocks from Worldwide. They both failed within a few thousand miles and needed to be replaced. The lifetime guarantee was honored but their explanation was that someone rebuilt both shocks incorrectly, part of the same "batch."

It was inconvenient to say the least, and wound up costing as much as new Moss replacements. YMMV.

Tommy,

I sent my MGA Shocks here and got 25% uprated one's for £70 in 2003 plus postage there.

MGB exchange front £13.95
MGB Uprated Exchange front £21.95

Incredibly cheep compared to new and they have been fine for 3 years now, but I don't expect them to last as long as new ones though.

You will have to ask about MGA though and as you in Japan, postage could be prohibitive.

Hope this helps.

I bought 1 front shock for my converted to MGB front end MGA. The first one leaked before I lowered it off the rack the second is fine. If they could just send the "second" one first.

I have Peter's rebuilts on both of my MGs and have used them on previous cars. I have not had any problems and his service is very fast. I certainly wouldn't hestitate to use his rebuilts again.

Mark,

How are those disc brakes? Shipping isn't that bad to/from the UK. However, when the parts are large I usually send them to my father in the US and have them forwarded here.

Jim, I can see where time/effort can be difficult to price. Some thing with tools. Get a good price and it breaks. You then have to spend half the day looking for another one, taking the old one back, and drinking a cold ale to calm you down (I prefer Asahi Super Dry at the moment).

Any other bad or good experiences?

Tom,

Asahi !!! quite partial to that with sushi.

Got side tracked with another MGA project. quite an interesting one too.... Announcement soon.

Thanks for the Brake Adapters, they won't go to waste, but not back in Perth just yet.

Cheers <MARK>
