MG MGA - REPLACEMENT HOOD AND RECOVERED SIDESCREENS

Although I own an MGA and had a new hood supplied and fitted in mohair by Don Trimming I wondered if anyone had used Tappers in Birmingham for the supply and fitting of a hood.

I ask this not in relation to an A but for an MG YT that I own. I have forwarded details of my requirements to both Don Trimming and Tappers, along with a set of photographs.

Tappers have come back with what I think is a very competetive price and I am aiming to visit them in the next couple of weeks with the car.

However, what would be useful is if anyone has used them and if they could possibly provide any feedback of their experiences please.


Tappers, who trade as Tappers upholstery, having been in existence for many years and I found them through an internet search. Considering that a YT hood cannot be obtained off the peg. like one for an A, B or T Type can I was pleased to find someone who is prepared to fabricate a new hood in mohair and cover the sidescreens as well. The price that I have been quoted is £1100 + VAT

Thoughts and comments and any other suppliers and fitters that others may have used would be welcome.
