MG MGA - Replacement Water Pumps
I have just replaced the water pump on my Mk2 1622 and I was surprised that the replacemebt I purchased from the MG Owners Club here in the UK was cast iron and not the alluminium type as mentioned and critisised in the Archive. The cost was around £25 The old one I took off the car was alluminium or alloy. Paul I thought it may be of interest ! |

PD, I purchased a new water pump last summer from a small vendor at the Namgar get-to-together at Whistler, BC. It also is a cast iron version. The name "County" is stamped on the long arm that supports the generator. (The name sounds familar. Isn't that the supplier for pistons that MOSS was/is selling.) It is not installed on the engine yet. Should be on it by this weekend. I did noticed the distance between the impeller and the body of the pump was quite close. Not like others I have seen over the years where the gap is in the range of 3/16 of an inch. Ray |

As I recall, County is a supplier of rebuilt parts. I need a new water pump. A re-built with a cast body would be great. Sign me up....where do I go to buy it? Thanks, Gerry |
