MG MGA - residual brake pressure
Hi All A friend living in France has a Frogeye Sprite with a twin bore brake master cylinder. He experiences residual brake pressure. I believe that the problem has been discussed on this site. Can someone explain the cause and the cure so that I may pass it on. Alan www.masckent.org |

Alan I had the same issues and, despite numerous modifications including shortening the MC piston by a few thou to ensure the MC return hole was uncovered, I never resolved the problem with that particular MC. I binned it and bought an AP Caparo MC from Bob West. The problems went away in an instant. It is in my opinion (and numerous others, including Bob) the best MC make available. Steve |

This problem has been around for at least 3 or 4 years, affecting new TRW/Lucas dual bore master cylinders. My recommendation is always send the faulty parts back so the vendor will get the message in the proper manner. If customers don't send the junk back the vendors will continue selling the same stuff.
