MG MGA - Road and Track tests
I have the Road & Track June, 1982 35th anniv issue that lists the 0-60mph time, 1/4 mile time and speed for every car they ever road tested . why would a coupe be faster than a roadster? |

If the roadster test was done with the top down.... Then the aerodynamics of the coupe would make it slip through the air better? All reports indicated the coupe has a higher top end than the lighter roadster. I seem to recall a test using a Judson on a car with a continental kit was very unflattering. Or it was different drivers. The test reports from different magazines years ago on the same car showed a lot more of a variation than the above tests. Just a couple of thoughts. Chuck |

Drivers ability, driver weight, air temperature, could all make a difference, although coupes ARE faster. The Shelby cobra wasn't competetive until it was a coupe. I have a hard time believing that a 1600 Porsche was only .1 second faster than a 55 MGA 1500. But you never know |

Anyone who ownes a Coupe(like I do) knows the superiority of this model over roadsters, Style comfort sex appeal. There's just no better and all in a civilized package. Any you don't get wet when it rains and if you get wet... in the rain... just get into the Coupe and drive a few miles and you are heat dried in no time, what a car.
