MG MGA - Rubber gator for Clutch Arm

In your opinion should I customize a rubber gator for the clutch arm to seal off the hole in the bell housing for the new five speed conversion I am installing?
The original transmission has a thinner wall, where as the 5 speed tranny's bell housing is somewhat thicker, plus the bolt for the clutch pivot assembly is in the way. I would need to cut away quite a bit on the rubber gator.

The vendor said it is not needed to install this gator and has not installed them on the conversions he did for others.

I know the hole for the starter is not sealed, but thinking that is up and away from most road debris.

Has anyone found a rubber gator to fit this application?

Did you see the item on the news the other day about the 8 foot 'gator that got into a kitchen in Florida? Or was that a gaiter- in English speak?
MR Blencowe

Ok..OK ...that is a clutch boot in the Moss Catalog. Part number 461-010

Yes I did read about that...never would I have one of those doggy doors.

To keep this near the top of the roster, I will add a few words.

I would still like to hear from some 5 speed tranny conversion folks. Did you install one on your tranny? How did you make it fit? The car only sees about 150 feet of gravel driveway and a lot of asphalt roads.

Whih 5 speed are you istalling in your car Ray?

Andy,
It's a Ford Sierra 5 speed conversion.

Ray, I used the normal rubber boot from the original gearbox. It fit without much trouble.
