MG MGA - Search problems

Can someone please help! I never seem able to successfuly find any old thread on this MGA site by using the "search" link situated at the top right of the main page. It's almost certainly me being a dummy but any guidance would be appreciated as, whatever way I try to identify the subject matter, it seems to return very little of relevance! Does no-one else suffer this? Is this the correct thread search method?
The specific thread I'm after is that from two or three weeks ago on the Chinese car lift system being praised by an Australian contributor. But I would still welcome some general guidance as well. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Bruce
Try going into "archive" first and then carry out the search. That should bring up more results.

I posted a way to do the search the archives on google awhile back; here it is:

All, If you have problems finding the words you're looking for using the search in the BBS, try using google (or alternative), enter the search term and "site:british-cars.net/mga-bbs"

For example, go to Google, then type

distributor advance retard adjustment site:british-cars.net/mga-bbs

You will get more hits. The BBS search looks for the "exact" words, where google will also look for alternative words; like for adjustment, it will also look for adjust, adjusted, adjusting, adjustable, etc.

Dennis Suski

Thanks guys. You both helped but Dennis's Google search worked a treat and actually found it! I will try to remember that one in future. Seems the BBS search can't cope with a thread which begins with "is this the -----------"!
