MG MGA - Seat cover Fitting
I'm in the process of installing the leather seatcovers I bought from Moss, (about 5 years ago) to my seat frames, The bottoms went on perfectly but the L/H back just doesn't seem to fit properly. It appears that the face is correct but the back panel is wrong. When pulled over the frame with new cushion material and padding around the top rail it looks like there is a R/H back panel sewn to a L/H front. It makes the inside back corner have an edge sticking up over 1 inch. Has anyone else had an issue with this? I haven't tried the R/H seatback yet. Thanks John Nelson Burnsville MN |

John, Are you aware that the seat top edges taper away toward the outside of the car? They are "handed". The high side must be in the centre of the cockpit. You may be fitting the new cover to the wrong hand frame. Barry |

Definitely aware they are "handed" what it appears is there is a L/H face sewn to a R/H back. I'm almost to the point of taking it to an upholstery Shop but I've done every other piece of this restoration myself other than the sandblasting of the frame and point of pride I'd really like to be able to have done it all without resorting to a professional for anything. John, there's always the possiblity that you do have an incorrectly stitched cover. You didn't say how the other back seat cover fitted. If it's OK then contact Moss, albeit 5 years old and tell them your problems. It will have the Moss tag on it somewhere if it's made by them. Andy |
