MG MGA - Selling MGA 1600 MK 1
I may be selling my 1960 1600 Mk 1 in the next few weeks as I may be buying a TC. (Note all the caveats). Its a rare UK car originally built in 1960 and despatched to Northern Ireland and then registered in early 1961. Painted black with a grey interior it featured fleetingly in a film made in 1965 of the 'Rolling Stones tour of Ireland' shown a couple of years ago on BBC4. It was completely rebuilt by a garage owner outside Belfast during the mid to late 1990's and was resprayed red on 1999. Beyond that the records are a blank though I understand that it was sold to a well known MG dealer around 2007.The engine blew up on the way back to the UK. It was then acquired by an unknown individual who spent an unknown time and considerable money completely rebuilding the mechanical aspects of the car these included the following: * A complete rewire and changing the polarity of the car * Fitting a new 1622cc engine * A Ford 5 speed box * Oil cooler * Electric Fa * New brakes throughout and converted to synthetic brake fluid * New heater etc I bought the car five years ago and fitted * Chrome wires with Vredsten radials * New top grade hood and tonneau cover fitted by Don Trimmingw glas * New hood frame * New aluminium side screens * Electronic ignition abd then tuned by Peter Burgess * Windscreen frame rechromed and new glass fitted work done by Ed Biddle from Malvern In my ownership I have covered around 9.5-10k miles and is used regularly throughout the year. A great car to drive but I cannot afford to keep the A if I do indeed buy a TC Any interest then I am asking around 25k then please contact me off line - jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com |
