MG MGA - Shorrock Supercharger
I have the opportunity to purchase a Shorrock Supercharger that apparently came off a 1500 MGA. I have asked for the serial numbers from the supercharger, but is there any way I can find out if they are correct and everything is above board? He is asking £1300, which includes all the pipes, manifold, and carb. Is it a sensible thing to buy to install in my 1600 MGA at some later date? Is there anything I should be looking out for? Thanks Rob |

You need the 142b model, the 75b is for the A-Series engines. I have never seena 142b for sale, and it is cheap if complete. But a 75b was recently doing the rounds masquerading as being suitable for the B-Series. It has too small a capacity and the manifolds won't fit the B series. |

Dominic, This one was on Craigslist when Rob put up his first post. http://belfast.craigslist.co.uk/ptd/5143280931.html Shane |

That's the same one that was on eBay. It won't fit a B series engine, and it's missing the inlet manifolds and a host of other small bits like a belt tensioner, crank pulley. Even if you made two new manifolds (you can't use the existing exhaust one for reasons that will be obvious if you set an A and B series side by side), you would have to overdrive it to get a meaningful boost pressure, which heats everything up, which reduces the efficiency of the charge, which means you have to increase the of overdriving...... and so begins the whirlpool of doom..... |

that was the one that i had come across, but the seller wouldn't send me any details apart from some fuzzy pictures. So I assumed it was not right. THanks for the info though, I will keep looking for a supercharger to fit the car. Rob |

I know a Judson owner looking to sell his unit. It's in good condition but has an oiler unit that goes on the heater shelf instead of the valve cover. It also has the huge bonus of having a conversion from the awful Holley to an HIF 44 (the Holley bits are with the unit too if you are a stickler for originality). If you are interested I'll ask him how much - he called me only yesterday to ask if I knew anyone looking please email me directly |

Dominic, I would certainly be interested in how much he thinks to sell it for. Do you want to PM me with details you get back. Thanks Rob |

He wants 3k€ for it. I can probably get it up to the UK at the end of the month if you are quick. |
