MG MGA - simple measurement sought
Guys, can anyone tell me the height of the pedal pivot bolt from the base of the pedal pivot plate itself. Mine is shot (as in heavily modified and re-shaped) so I am fabricating a new one. Also I am fabricating a new master cylinder mounting bracket (likewise mis-shaped) so can you advise the height of the pushrods (and therefore the centrepoint of the cylinder bores) from the base of the pedal pivot plate regards mark |

Feeling through the rubber boot, it seems that the pivot bolt hole is about the bolt head radius above the plate(ie just high enough so that you can turn the bolt and nut). Hopefully someone with the rubber boot off can give you exact dimension. The pushrod on mine is 2.625 inches above the plate. The pivot bolt is 4.5 inches back from the front edge of the shelf, and the front mounting bolt for the master is 8.5 inches back from the front of the shelf. Mine is left hand drive, but would imagine the heights and distances would be the same for RHD. |

Mark, I measure the pivot point C/L as 7/16" above the the pivot point plate. As you know the pivot point support is bent at 90 degrees (where it is welded to the cylinder/pedal box base plate) which is where this measurement is taken. You need to add on another 1/16" to get to the actual base plate to allow for the thickness of the pivot point plate. The C/L of the master cylinder is 2 5/8" as previously stated to the top of the cylinder/pedal box assembly base plate. The LHD and RHD master cylinder assemblies are the same, but I think if I remember correctly from when I did my LHD to RHD conversion, the brake pedals are not interchangeable. Rod |
