MG MGA - Source for copper hood pin sleeve
I'm not sure what to call this part... On the MGA convertible top, There are 2 holes to accept the pins on the top of the windscreen. On my '57 there is a copper sleeve that is press fit into each of the holes in the wood. I've scoured the Moss USA for any hint of this part. But given how hard it can be to find things on their site, it won't surprise me if it's actually in there somewhere... Does anyone know of a source for this part? And what it's actually called? Thanks! |

Gary, Thanks, but when I follow that link I don't see anything on the page that looks like the part I'm after. The page I see is all door parts. I can post a photo if my description dosen't make sense.. |

Steven, I can not find any thing like that in the books that I have. Is it possible that at some time in the far distant past those holes became enlarged and someone has pressed some copper sleeves into the holes to make the pins fit??? If so, I would suspect it is plain everyday hardware store copper pipe. Just a thought-- / gil |

I know what part you mean Steve. Couldn't find it in the Moss online system, but found it listed at Victoria British as part# 9-1028 (see item 3 in top frame & fastners diagram at the bottom of page 44 here http://www.victoriabritish.com/icatalog/mga/0044.html). |

Gary, Nice! Thats it! Gary thanks very much. Using your part number, I was able to find it in the TC/TD/TF section of the moss site. Which makes sense in that the mga top wing bolts are not listed in the MGA section of the Moss site... they're also in the TC/TD section. Maybe Moss could benefit from the services of a web usability expert. They make finding parts a real challenge. PS here's a photo of what's left of the part, and the place it came from on my '57: http://www.stevenloe.com/mga_photos/images/mga_part.jpg |
