MG MGA - Sources for hardtop restoration
I have what appears to be a "factory original" Universal Laminates fiberglass hardtop in need of restoration. I enjoy doing the mechanical work on my Mk II 1600, but have never done any interior or upholstery work. This top will need everything but the fiberglass shell replaced. I've collected some good information on drawings, plans, and parts sources from the Yahoo MGA Hardtops group: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/mgahardtop I took it to an auto upholstery shop down the road from me, but they were reluctant to take it on. Any advice on how I might proceed ? Is this something that a novice can undertake, or should I continue to look for a shop in my area that will do the work for me ? If I take it out, what should I be looking for in terms of a shop that can do a good job ? Can I look for a business that works on contemporary vehicles, or should I look for a "restoration" shop ? Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks, Chuck Mosher |

Chuck I don't think that it would be that difficult, but then again, I am not knowledgeable on these. I bet a Corvette shop or a classic car shop can do a great job. |
