MG MGA - spark plug wires

Recently I was returning from a show and was experiencing a miss in the engine. I stopped and inspected the spark plug wires to find that one was loose. What causes this?

I pressed the metal end tighter and re-inserted it, which got me home. But I wasn't feeling so good with how the 'connection' felt. Should I replace the plug wires? Does anyone have a recommendation on a 'good' set of plug wires for the MGA 1500? What makes them different, one set or another...I have seen some cheap sets and others ranging well up in price. What's important in making this type of selection? I look forward to comment.

Thanks all...

I make mine using a kit from Accel, you can find them at most auto parts stores. I use the kit with 7mm wire with solid copper conductor and solder the wire to the connectors. I think the last kit cost about $28 from Advance Auto Parts. The kits are for V8's so you end up with plenty of extra wires and terminals.

My Bosch 7mm wires are working just fine after 7 seasons. No connection problems on either end as I am using the original style resistive plug caps and original disty cap style. Both screw into the wires.

I see no reason to modernize here. I recommend originality for a solution to this problem.
