MG MGA - Speedometer Cable Tap Size
In installing the new cable for the speedometer I screwed up the threads on the cap fitting at the gearbox end of the cable. @#$%^&. I can pull the cable out of the way to rechase the threads. Does anybody know what size tap I need to get. The new attachment caps are aluminum. Be careful - very soft steel. Cheers, Larry York, Maine Note: I posted this message on another MGA Forum also. |

Larry, I have a thread gauge that might fit in there. I will try to find it and go check for you tomorrow. If I can't figure out what your talking about, I'll call you. Are you off for the day? I think you mean the fitting on the engine sort of near and just aft of the header pipe to exhaust junction - right? JIM in NH |

Hi Jim, The speedometer cable has 2 ends - one for the gauge and the other that attaches to the transmission. I've messed up the threads on the fitting that connects to the transmission. Hope that helps. |

Answered on the other MGA forum, but for those who missed it, this thread is 19-mm dia x 1.0-mm pitch. |
