MG MGA - Steel oil pipes

Fitted the oil cooler last week. This is the original type that has inlet and outlet pipes on the bottom (see photo on Barney's site), so I had to cut holes in the front apron. Then fitted steel oil pipes to the cooler - one long pipe, one short. These came from SF, and I fitted them as per the original worshop manual section A.45, page A.23. SF also supplied the rubber hoses to go from the steel pipes to the engine. The rear one to the block is 2.5 inches short, and the front one to the filter is about 4 inches too long. CB says I have fitted the steel pipes incorrectly, but their end locations are as per the diagram in the manual.
I'm told by SF that they have sold hundreds of these pipes and hoses, as they are standard original fitting to Mark II cars.
I'll try to upload a photo or two to show the layout. Does anyone have these pipes fitted to their car, and can they email me a photo to show where I have screwed up.
Thanks, Peter.

Here's a photo. Rear hose is conneted to a tee for an oil temp bulb (not fitted), and the front hose is connected to the filter but not to the end of the short front steel pipe.

Peter,
Here are some photos of my MK-II oil pipes. They are original to the car, but I have replaced the hoses. My hoses are about 14 inches long each. (hard to measure when installed). The steel pipe that connects to the hose from the block is attached to the right side of the oil cooler. The pipe that attaches to the filter hose is attached to the left side of the cooler. I hope this helps.

Peter -
First, you don't have an MGA filter housing, which will account for the front hose being too long.
Second, from Ed's pics & Barney's, it appears that the longer pipe has a pronounced bend down and away from the inner fender. You appear to have your pipe clamped too far along the pipe, so that you are pulling this bend toward the panel, and also clamping the pipe too far forward relative to the engine. Are your mounting clip holes positioned as in the assembly drawing (Barney) OF-105AD? Your extra Tee should make the hose effectively that much too long.
You did retain the correct long snout block fitting in your pipework?

Peter,
Do you have the rubber hoses configured correctly? i.e. have you tried the front hose on the rear and the rear on the front?

Colin,
Both rubber hoses are about 14 inches long, and this is confirmed as the original length by Ed.
Fom Ed's photos, it seems that the long steel pipe I have is not bent tight enough as it comes from behind the rad mounting, so my end is too high up the wing. (There were no orginal mounting holes for the P clamps). This would account for the back hose being short.
With the spin on oil filter mounting, the hose alignment for the front hose, along with its excess length, makes this fitting very difficult. What I need at each end of this front hose is the bent steel connections like you get on MGB oil hoses. These would allow more flexibility when it comes to the routing of the front pipe.
Fortunately these mods to the hoses are not too difficult to do.
Thanks to all for their input on this. Peter.
