MG MGA - Stephen in Simi
Following up on my engine replacement project and thanks to all who have chipped in on advice so far. I have owned my 1958 MGA 1500 Roadster for 37 years and have been through many systems, trim and paint, with very happy results. Some of you know I am replacing a mysterious engine with an original A block. Your comments on the plate markings in the current engine have been intriguing. My local friends in the 'tribe' are totally perplexed. Nevertheless, I have the paints now for the engine and the body bay, so I am very pleased and excited to push on. Thanks to all have contributed notes about the heater box removal...it is OUT. Perhaps the first time since it was built. And I am taking heart to those who recommend removing EVERYTHING in order to paint it right and put in all new grommets when doing the replacments, etc. Slow going but I am happy to report this news to my community friends here. The paint shop chipped my bonnet...so now I am painting more than I wished for...but oh well. They told me a body panel would be best. No good deed goes unpunished. However, the color is exact.
