Hi Folks, Sorry to be a pain but I have made a mistake and did not include in the price I quoted, the price of the packing for the stacks.(cost of jiffy bags etc). The £25. most are sending is fine but when a lesser amount is sent,by the time Paypal takes it's cut, I will be out of pocket, Hoping £25.00 is ok, Regards, Steve A. |

Steve, I think most of us went for £25 to allow for that. Shane |

John Lambie |
What is the shipped price to the USA? Thanks Steve |
Steve Carroll |
Steve, Price for two stacks is £25.00, for three £26.00 would be better. Regards, Steve A. |
S Ash |
Steve, Just curious - when are you going to start shipping the stacks? I have my carbs off now, so would like to get them before I reassemble everything (hopefully before the spring...) Thanks! JIM in NH (USA) |
AJ Mail |
Jim, I have been promised delivery beginning Feb but having dealt with the same company several times in the past, their delivery dates seem to be flexible.I will go and check tomorrow.(27th) Steve A. |
S Ash |
Steve Carrol, Have just read my post of the 24th Jan and realised it should have said £66.00 for three stacks, not £26.00,including P&P. Steve A. |
S Ash |
Steve, should that not be £76? |
N McGurk |
Hi Steve , I have just sold my A and no longer need the carb stubs. If you have more orders than Stubs on sell mine. If not just send them to me . I'll dispose of them in Aus.. Thanks Sean |
S Sherry |
Steve, any update on the ETA? |
Andy Bounsall |
Hi to all, I have just been to the engineering works and 60 pairs of stacks have been turned and have now to be put on the CNC machine to be finished.I am told they "SHOULD" be ready next Monday.(hopefully). PS.I am still awaiting payment for 6 pairs of stacks. If anyone who has ordered a pair and no longer wants them, please let me know or pay up promptly. Steve A. |
S Ash |
Steve, Have you posted a list of all payments received? I know when I pay on my end, but I always wonder if the payment makes it through the 'net. Thanks. Ken Morton |
k v morton |
Hi All, I have just collected the first batch of stacks and have posted them (at last). The rest should follow by the end of the week, providing I get the time to pack them. For those residing in "foreign parts",ie outside the EU, what is the best wording (description of goods) to put on the customs declaration to avoid any queries, taxes, import duties, or any other complications. Regards, Steve A |
S Ash |
Steve..Any individual item under A$1000 does not get taxed entering Oz. A pragmatic decision based on the fact that examining and collecting would cost more than the revenue.. ....Simply write ' part for classic car ' on the label. |
Neil Ferguson |
Neil, I was concerned as to which box to tick on the declaration,ie. gift, commercial sample,or other. Steve |
S Ash |
Hi Steve don't send mine as yet. As my A is sold. Someone else may want the Stacks if you are short' Thanks Sean |
S Sherry |
Great news Steve. Send mine as soon as you like, I would like to engage the expertise of Steve Gyles whilst he is staying with us here in Aus. Greatly appreciate all the development work and the manufacture of these items. Worth a Knighthood at least! Barry. |
Barry Gannon |
steve...don't think it makes much difference to the customs here....but tick the ' other ' box...........and thanks again for your great effort on behalf of us all ...and all the label licking.. neil |
Neil Ferguson |
Steve, for packages coming to Canada, best if you put the description as 'car parts for vehicle over 25 years of age'. Also, if you check the box that says the package contains a gift, that usually helps it to arrive under the radar. |
Andy Bounsall |
Just put classic car part and the true value on the green label, then it should come through fine |
dominic clancy |
steve did you receive my payment pete |
PETE CERKA |
Pete, your payment received 25/1/12. steve A. |

Steve, Stub stacks arrived today. Look great. Fitting them this weekend. Many thanks for your hard work. Shane |
Shanerj |
Steve, The Customs Declaration on the most recent package I received from the UK was checked "other" and described as "motorcycle parts." The value of that order was noted as £9. Can you confirm that you received my payment? Thanks. Ken |

Nigel Munford |
Thanks Steve. Arrived well today. Same questions as Nigel please! Do we need a standard fitting instruction book from Steve Giles? Many thanks. Bruce. |
Bruce Mayo |
I took the A out for a drive today in the lovely sunshine. When I returned I found a parcel containing the stacks on my doormat. Looks like I’m going to be busy this weekend. Cheers Steve, & also thank the engineering works for a great job! Richard |

K R Barrett |
Steve, Another delivery. Thank you for the effort and willingness to help this group. It is much appreciated. I'm going to use a blob of JB Weld to secure them in place. regards Colin |
C Manley |
Ken, Your payment received 18/2/12.The rest of the stacks should be ready next week. They have all been turned but not finished as there has been a problem with the CNC machine.. Steve A. |
S Ash |
Nigel, In theory you should polish any faces that come into contact with the air, this provides a greter air speed because of reduced turbulance. The greater the volume of air the better the performance. |
J Bray |
My set arrived today, nice attention to detail is elongation and counterboring of the holes. Thank you Steve for the work that you have put into getting these sorted. Regards...John |
J Bray |
Hi Steve -- I've been away on holidays and just got back today. Can you confirm when my stubs will be sent out ? Trying to plan some action on the car (and other things ) Regards David |
D C Grahame |
David, I am supposed to collect a lot of finished stacks on monday the 5th providing the problem with the CNC machine has been sorted.I will get them sent asap, hopefully next week. Will let all concerned know on monday Regards, Steve A. |
S Ash |
Hi Steve Arrived yesterday, thanks for your efforts. Ross |
Ross McIntosh |
Hi to all, Bad news.I have just been to the suppliers of the stacks and they were in the middle of having a new CNC machine installed. This will take a few days as several other pieces of equipment have to be shut down and moved out of the way to do the job.I have been told that they will be ready at the end of this week.(don't shoot the messenger) Steve. |
S Ash |
Steve, thanks for all the effort! |
R emgeeaa |
Hi Steve My set arrived today (in Holland). It looks great, thanks for all your work Rutger |
Rutger Booy |
G/Day Steve, My set arrived today - thank you for a sterling effort. Steve Gyles helped me to fit them and I am happy to report they dropped straight in and fitted perfectly! Took about 30 minutes! They are sealed, with a little contact cement, and are seated correctly. The contours provide a smooth passage of air into the carbs, dimensions are spot on. Have only had time to run around the block at this time but enough to notice an improvement in performance. Very impressed with the throttle response and a marked improvement in hill climbing. Will report more after our run on the weekend. Many thanks Steve, Barry. |
Barry Gannon |
Hi Steve, The package arrived today in Belgium.Thank you once more, we all should pay you a beer! Hope the 25£ was enough for the stacks and postage to B.If not please let me know. Regards, Herman |

Mine arrived yesterday! Thanks a bunch. John |
jbackman |
Mine arrived and looking smashing! Had to polish them of course, I am someone who should not be allowed to have a buffing wheel as I tend to polish everything polishable! I cannot thanks Steve Ash enough for all the effort this enterprise must had caused him, my hat is off to you, sir! |
A M Leyva |
Not quite as shiny, but beautiful shapes!
|
A.M. Kunz |
Hi Steve, mine were waiting for me when we got back from Spain earlier this week. Thanks very much for all your efforts. I've got them fitted; glued them in with silicon sealant. A job to say whether they make any difference to the throttle response as my engine is quite responsive anyway, with its K&Ns and no fan to drive round, but I've only done 40 miles with them so far. I've been recording mileage and fuel comsumed for the last 3,000 miles, so it will be interesting to see if I get any change there, as I have altered nothing else. |
Lindsay Sampford |
Ken K. Negative; I haven't received mine yet. Ken M. |
k v morton |
Sorry, Ken--I reread your earlier post more carefully this time. I see now that they've begun trickling in to the lower 48, so perhaps our wait will end soon. Ken |
Ken Korey |

Hi Steve, My stacks arrived yesterday. I appreciate the time & effort you've put into arranging production & distribution. My A has been running well lately so fortunately this will give me a reason to tinker with it. Thanks, Ian. |
I Hazeldine |
Hi Steve Received the stacks yesterday and fitted them. Went for a run through the hills this morning and the improvement in performance was brilliant. As with the other comments thanks for all your efforts. Paul |
P Dodds |
Hi Steve, My stacks arrived in the far north today. Thank you so much for making this all happen. Ken |
k v morton |
Hi Steve My two sets arrived todays post. Thank you very much. Any interest from T/C guys and those with oversize H6 S.U on OHV engines? Steve what would be required to design similar sets for those with 1 3/4 inch carbies? Regards John |
John Lambie |
I am about to install a SU HIF 44 (1 3/4in or 44mm) on a Judson Supercharger on my MGA and sourced a little gem from APT to fit in a conical K&N filter. It is well made and costs about $33. Not as well tapered as the one designed by committe on this site and a little thicker than needs be....but will do a good job I believe. I may 'improve' it by having the top surface taper away from the orifice. Apt site as below.. www.aptfast.com/showitem.aspx?id=101065&name=H6%2FHS6(1.75%22)%20Billet%20Aluminum%20Stubstack& |
Neil Ferguson |
For the mga twin cam, a pair of stubs as were fitted to Jaguars work fine on the SU H6 carb of the Twin Cam, about £35 pair. Having fitted a pair of Steves' in the pushrod car (not yet finished) and reading of the improvement, i ordered a set for the H6 carbs on the TC. I had to modify the fitting of the top of the air filter cover fixing as i cut away the inner mounting metalwork for the top cover. There is definitely an improved throttle response and a different exhaust tone - clearly a better airflow. regards Colin |
C Manley |
Colin, How did you open up the throats to match the H6 - did you try to maintain the shape? Thanks, Mark |
M Wellard |
hi steve stacks arrived in new jersey yesterday they look great thanks for all the effort pete |
PETE CERKA |
Mark, The stubs i bought were already the right diameter for the H6 throat. Their cross section is a bit steeper and tighter in curve than the pushrod ones that Steve Ash supplied. I also filed the edge of the filter housing to line up with the inner ID of the stub, so as to remove any 'stepped' edge. regards Colin |
C Manley |
I just received mine, Steve--they look first-rate! Thanks much for undertaking this project. We are in your debt! Cheers, Ken |
Ken Korey |
Steve..stacks not yet arrived as of 6th April. Could you confirm the address you sent them to..my e-mails neilferguson.nf@gmail.com.. ..or are some still being made? |
Neil Ferguson |
Hi to all, Just to keep you up to date, I am having a few more stacks made, delivery in a few weeks (possibly). The bad news is, they will cost more! When money is sent by Paypal, they take a fee, which means that I have not been getting £25.00, and with the cost of my time, petrol, padded bags and postage,in some cases it has been costing me money. It was never my intention to make a profit from this venture just to help where I could. I will let you all know when they are ready, with the cost.(will be around £30 to £35.00) Steve Ash. |
S Ash |
Steve, I missed out on the first order. How can I order one of the new sets? Steve Bryan |
S E Bryan |
Thanks Steve As intimated before I would be interested in a set to go with my K & Ns I look forward to your notification when they are made Many thanks for your efforts on our behalf Paul |
P D Camp |
Steve I have an article appearing in the MGCC Safety fast in the next issue I believe. There may be some orders coming from that. As I discussed with you, please put a set aside for me to give to Bob West to try out. Again, may be some interest will result from that source. If you go 'public' outside of this forum you may want to reconsider the pricing for them so you make a small profit. Cheers Steve |
Steve Gyles |
Hi If you go public outside this forum have you considered a version for 1.25 SUs. A business opportunity perhaps? |
A Anstead |
Hi Steve ,I've had no interest in my un-used Stacks and as you suggested I will send them back instead of scrapping them. Some one your end may like to have them. What is your mailing address ? Thanks Sean |
S Sherry |
Sean, I suggest you wait a couple of weeks before sending them back. All the Oz MG purists are at the National Meeting in Tasmania at present and may well be interested when they return. I certainly have recommended them as I found a marked improvement in performance since fitting to my "A". Barry |
Barry Gannon |
Sean Just to add to what Barry has suggested, I was approached by some MGA guys at the MGCC of Victoria meeting about stub stacks. Perhaps and email to Mike Ellesmore will open up a sale to one of those guys at their next meeting. Steve |
Steve Gyles |
Hi all, I have noted the names of all who have asked about the second batch of stacks and will post on this site when they are ready, along with the price. I may well look at making some for different carbs. Please don't contact me for the next couple of weeks as I will be in sunny Cyprus Steve A. |
S Ash |
steve...mine came with the mail today and look very well made..many thanks for all your efforts in getting this done so well. Neil |
