MG MGA - strange studs
On my MGA 1600 I have two studs sticking out of the crankcase on the front left side of the engine just behind the 1600 mark. Is there supposed to be something attached to these? |

Are you talking about the two studs that hold the the mechanical fuel pump blanking plate? Steve |

On mine two special clips attach at these points: the front one holds the two carburettor float bowl overflow pipes and the rear one holds the crankcase breather tube. ..............................Mike |

+1 with Mike. A 1600 does not use a blanking plate since a 1600 was only used in a MG,so it was never machined for a fuel pump. Don't know about a 1622 though-- |

Think Mike Moore has the answer. Because I have a Xflow head my carbs are on the right of the engine so those studs are redundant. Maybe I can think of something useful to attatch to them. Thanks guys. |
