MG MGA - SU air filters
I was wondering if anyone has tried the cold air induction air filter setup that Moss offers. I was considering purchasing this but was a little torn. I like the looks of the SU air filter setup but wondered if that COI setup would be more efficient for airflow. It looks like it would be. Plus, those dang air filters are real knuckle busters to get off. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Pat |

Just use a small 1/4 ratchet handle and the filters are absolutely easy to remove / install If you use Neanderthal tools instead of the right tool for the job, anything is a knuckle buster |

I like Neanderthal tools. :) I do use a ratchet wrench to remove and install. But I still have to stick my hands/fingers between the fender and the filters to grab hold of the buggers. And then there's putting the bolts back in. Ugh. But, irregardless of ease of access, I was just wondering if that new setup would provide better air to both carbs than the two separate air filters. It kind of seems like it might. Was curious if anyone out there had any thoughts on it or was using that particular device. Thanks, Pat |

B.T.W. My first post...I meant cold air input...not induction. |

Pat, I converted the outer bolts to wing bolts, and I can now take off the covers using just my fingers. However, I converted to K&N filter elements some years ago so do not need to take the covers off very often now. I do know someone who fitted the Moss cold air intake to his MGA, but he extended the pipe so the air filter fits in front of the radiator. The pipe goes through the steel pipe in the body where the original paper tube fits to. Peter. |
