MG MGA - SU. ID
Can any one advise me on what sort of SU's I have on my 1800 5 main in my 58 MGA? [or are they off an MG.] There is no piston lifting pin or boss for pin to slide through, although there are two holes in the underside through which i can raise the piston. With the chamber and piston removed there is a guide in the throttle body that the piston slides in that is removeable with 2 screws.Float bowl is attached as normal by offset casting and banjo bolt.[and leaky seals] The number 4031/7 is cast on throttle body,I haven't seen this style of SU in any MG literature or parts lists. The engine performs well with them. Merry Christmas everyone, Ron. |

Ron - I don't find anything with that number on it in the Burlen Fuel catalog that I have, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Try contacting Midel in NSW. They are the experts on everything SU in Australia. Their web site is: http://www.sumidel.com/ Good luck - Dave |

Float chamber rubber mounting on a banjo bolt makes it an SU H-type like original MGA H4 carbs. Hole for lifing pin with no lifting pin only means the pin is missing. |
