MG MGA - Tach take off

My block is not drilled for the mechanical tachometer drive. The casting is there, with two tapped holes.
What is involved in opening out the block to accept the drive? Is it precision engineering or do the stods provide proper location?
A Pearse

The factory machined studs should be close enough. Use the tach drive housing as a guide to locate the larger pilot hole and bore it straight through. The gears are a fairly loos fit here, so it should still work if you happen to miss the location by a few thou.

I have changed a block once. From memory I marked where the centre is, drilled a 1/4" hole & used a 1" hole saw.
