MG MGA - Thermal Shield ??
What sort of product is everyone using to line the firewall, and undercarpet areas to reflect radiant heat from the engine and exhaust. I've used a product that has a foil surface towards the heat and then a "recycled rag" type layer towards to inside cockpit area. It came in a 5 ft long roll. It's rather bulky and makes fitting the carpet a bit of a challenge. I'd like something "space age" that does a better job and takes up less thickness ...... I'd also like a date with Jennifer Lopez .... but hopefully the heat shield is a possiblity !! Thanks !! Mike 1960 MGA |

I bought a product called B-QUIET on Ebay. It is about 1/8 inch thick and is rubberized on one side and aluminum coatd on the other.I have it installed in my Coupe (on the tunnel, interior roof, under dash, battery box cover, floors etc.)I will the put down a regular automotive underpadding and install the carpets. I paid $135.00+shp for 100sq ft and I am sure I am going to have enough to cover anything else in the car that I think will radiate heat. with the two layer (B-QUIET + underpadding) and the carpet I shoild realize a much more comfortable interior enviroment. Thanks Gordon |

I used the stuff from MOSS with the aluminum foil on one side about 5 years ago. I didn't do the firewall. Reasonable and has worked well. |

Michael, If "space age" is what you're looking for check out Lizard Skin at chillylizard.com. Its a "paint on" form of ceramic insulation for both noise and heat. I have a gallon I'm just getting ready to apply. However, be sure you're sitting down and have a firm grip on your wallet when you look at the price. Cheers, GTF |
