MG MGA - this must be a misprint
Hi all, just look at this price of this one and it's lhd, surely it has to be a misprint http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C77897 Gordon |

1958 is not a 1600, or vice versa. Hard to say what perfect show cars are going for these days. There are many claiming to be, but precious few actually are perfect and worth that much. |
Barney Gaylord |
Hi Barney, hope you are well, I don't think any pushrod A could be worth that price, unless someone had one that they had bought new , never used only delivery mileage on it, stored properly so it was actualy "brand new" no work at all carried out on it and I very much doubt that any of those exist gordon |

Can't wait for the pictures. Look forward to seeing the toolkit! A totally concours car (having just won "Benson and Hedges", "Autoglym", or whatever, might be worth close to that (RHD with full history etc.) That is if someone really wanted the best; it wouldn't be possible to have one built for that money. Perhaps he's after the continental European market. Still IMHO it's probably at least 10k over priced, however nice it is. Maybe it's the Elvis car! LOL Neil |
Neil McGurk |
Hi, probably not a misprint. Someone will pay the price. I saw a heap at Beaulieu vilage garage for 20K not too long ago. Awful non-original red, cracked paintwork, oil leak and an almost shredded interior and scratched dash. Was probably worth about 6K, but some mug bought it in the end. "There's one born every minute", or "if only I had enough moeny to waste" Grant :-) |

Hi Neil at that rate my best tool kit must be worth at least £££££££'s lots of them lol |

Hi all photos now up for this one , nice car but nothing special not for that price , chrome surround on radio speaker, should be painted radio blank etc, alloy rocker cover, needs to be 100% for that price |

as Barney says 1956/ 1600 ??????? |
g c pugh |
seems to have early gauges but 1600 badges |
g c pugh |
Yes - it's got the 1500 rear lights too. I dont like the black beading on the wings either. It looks a nice car besides that but about £10k overpriced. BTW Gordon - sorry to see your 2nd tool kit didn't go - cheers Cam |
Cam Cunningham |
Yes, it should be a concours contender at that price. No spare wheel cover/clamp (no toolkit!). The gauges are, as Gordon points out, not matching. Seat covers look limp and the indicator knob and radio blank! Loads of non original/incorrect/missing stuff under the bonnet too. Hard to tell but the panel fit round the driver's door doesn't look quite right. No front 1600 badges? Apart from it's identity crisis, (and being LHD in UK) which detracts significantly from its value, it is a very nice car and looks to have been meticulously restored. It would be good value at half the asking price, which is what it would probably fetch if sold privately. Would take another 3-4 grand (and a lot of work) to get to (a RHD) show standard. |
Neil McGurk |
Hi Neil and Cam, that sort of money would buy a very nice twin cam, I see Beaulieu have also jumped on the bandwagon with their prices Gordon |

No carpet in the boot, air cleaners are not Vokes black - main issue is the steering wheel is on the wrong side! Mike |
Mike Ellsmore (1) |
Hi Mike I don't think they are Volkes cleaners they look too thin Gordon |

air filters are early B, so is the thermostat cover. I would guess it's an 1500 that's been given an engine transplant (B engine ?). It's missing too many little things to be that valuable in the UK. But it IS what a good MGA goes for in this part of the world (at least when the British pound is so weak). Typically a good MGA is worth 35-40k CHF here, but it would have to be correct to be worth that, and everything done to Swiss standards (which would equate to a Bob West restoration for a standard car). 1 GBP = 1.65 CHF at the moment, but it normally sits around the 2.10 mark, which would then make this car seriously overproced. I guess the seller is looking at the European market and hoping to make a killing, but I suspect it will in the end sell for a lot less after all it can't be the only good LHD MGA for sale in the UK at the moment! |

I see the advert has been removed "Through sale or otherwise". If it's the 'otherwise' it is probably because the seller has been reading this forum!! Steve |
Steve Gyles |
Hi Steve , it's still on their own site Gordon |

Hi, These people are just a couple of miles from me and are one of the dearest dealers around. Being LHD this car is aimed at the European market as the price of the euro compared to sterling at the moment makes it a reasonable price for anyone in the eurozone. Although this dealer is mega expensive he doesn't seem to have too much trouble shifting cars. They are all beautifully presented which helps. Phil |
P Parmenter |
Hi Phil not a patch on yours or SFO Gordon |
g c pugh |
Hi now this one looks really good and correct http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C77403 Gordon |
g c pugh |
Gordon, Is there a price on the Mk 11? Mike |
Mike Ellsmore (1) |
That looks really nice - same colours as mine and almost as good(LOL). It's not far from me either - cheers Cam |
Cam Cunningham |
Hi Mike and Cam no price given won't be cheap though, at least it looks right Gordon |
g c pugh |
Gordon, hello. Whatever happened to the lovely SFO, where is she now? Mk2 s look best in black, not sure why. Phil |
P Parmenter |
Hi Phil, she is still local to me belongs to a retired gentleman, he drives it most days hasn't put the top up since he's had it, it's starting to show signs of wear and tear, I don't think it gets cleaned very often Gordon |
