MG MGA - Thread Sizes
I have been browsing through some of my MGA publications this afternoon and came across an interesting publication from the UK's MGCC MGA Register. Titled MGA Technical Manual, one of the articles catalogues every bolt and washer on the MGA including bolt type (pan head, countersunk, set screw etc), diameter and length. It looks a very well researched article. Also articles on wire wheels, speedo conversions, cooling system, overheating, fitting the hood, covering the seats, reconditioning sidecreens, fuel system, rebuilding carburetters, fuel gauge repairs, painting, engine and electrics, bodywork, tool kit, releasing a stuck bonnet, and all the things you never really wanted to know about the car and never really thought of asking. I am not sure if it is still available for sale. Any MGCC members out there who can advise? Steve Steve |

Hi Steve - it sounds like a good investment - I will contact the MGA register and see if it is still in print - cheers Cam |

I bought a copy years ago, and this has just caused me to dig it out again. There is a sister book callled MGA restoration. Both are excellent reference books. |

Steve, I think it may be the one listed on their website: http://www.mga-register.org/ then go to Regalia and pan down to Books. Shane |

I may be wrong but isn't the author Andy Seargent? I have quite a number of little technical publications from the MGCC MGA register, we are certainly very fortunate to have these people as members of such a wonderful club. |
Bob (robert) I am coming out!! yes I once owned an MGB!! |
Shane Spot on, although mine is a pale blue cover. Bob Yes, it is by Andy Seargant. Steve |

I have put the Techical Manual and the Restoration Manual together electronically for the MGA Register. Original sketches were redrawn and further graphics and articles have also been added. The Register plan to put them both out on CD later this year. I will put out a thread when this occurs. regards Colin |

One of the posters on this board has also put together such a list of fasteners and has made it available. Check the thread "Thread Size, Bonnett bolts" still on the board. I found it very helpful. |

You might also go to the archives and type in "coupe bolts" to get John Progress's nicely documented list of fasteners. Cheers, GTF |

Barney now has the "Coupe-Bolt" spreadsheet on his web site for everyone to use. Have a good day! John Progess |
