MG MGA - Tip on dim low-beams
Well, I'll make a long story very short since I have trouble even changing light bulbs in my house. With the help of a friend infinitely more knowlegeable about electricity than me, we determined that the cause of the dim headlights (in the low-beam mode) was that the new wiring harness had the common and the hi-beam wires reversed in the plug. The car is a '62 and I have new Sylvania halogen sealed beams. Or maybe the 3-lug plug is wired correctly but the corresponding lugs on the lamp are reversed?? Anyhow, I can now see at night! Hope this info helps someone before you engage in a lengthy trouble-shooting episode. Tom |
